Anahola, on Kauai’s east shore, is a mere 20 minutes away from Kauai’s airport at Lihue. It is within walking distance to the beautiful and isolated Anahola Beach. Anahola is centrally located on the island of Kauai, with an easy 10 minute drive to restaurants, theaters, galleries and shopping areas of Kapaa. A 45 minute drive South will take you to Poipu on Kauai’s sunny south shore and a short 30 minute drive North and you will be in Hanalei, on the North Shore. It is also only a one hour drive to Waimea on Kauai’s West shore where Waimea Canyon is located.

Golf: some of the most picturesque golf courses in the world are located in Hawaii.

Na Pali Coast: one of Kauai's trademarks is the world famous "Na Pali Coast", with its eleven miles of rural and untouched coastline, which is not accessible by car.

Waimea Canyon: named the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" by Mark Twain is a
spectacular gorge that defies description.

FOOD SHOPPING
Whalers General Store here in Anahola has some basic items, and is only one mile north. Duane's Ono Char Burger, right next door, has the best burgers on the island. You will also find the Post Office there.
There are 3 supermarkets to the South in Kapaa and Waipouli, about 6 miles away: Big Save, Safeway and Foodland.

HEALTH FOOD STORES
Papaya’s, in the same shopping center as Safeway, is the best health food store on the island. They have the best ready-made entrees and all are healthy.

Ambrose’s Kapuna Natural Foods is in the yellow building across the street from Foodland in Waipouli. It is one of the most eccentric health food stores you will ever see (doubling as a surf shop among other things), and is operated by Ambrose, a wonderful local character, who loves to “talk story".

The Hanalei Health Food Store in the Ching Young shopping village in Hanalei has a good selection of health foods, and some very healthy sandwiches and snacks. It is a local meeting place for many of the
alternative life style types.

There are 2 wonderful bakeries in Kilauea. On the way to the Lighthouse, stop at Kung Lung Store and between the buildings is a fantastic bakery and pizza place. Also on the block before the Kung Lung Store on Lighthouse Rd. is a doctors office (Dr. Goodman best GP on the island), turn right and 1 block in...after the pharmacy, there is a small restaurant in this bakery that has good Mexican food and colorful walls.
